Australia is partnering with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) to host the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 19-22 September 2022.

Convened by UNDRR, the APMCDRR is the main regional platform in Asia-Pacific for promoting coordination and cooperation on DRR and the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. It brings together UN Member States, intergovernmental organisations, international and national organisations and stakeholder groups, to accelerate progress on disaster risk reduction.

As the first regional platform since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the APMCDRR will be organized under the theme –  From Crisis to Resilience: Transforming the Asia-Pacific Region’s future through disaster risk reduction.

AWP at the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 

Session: Increasing hydrological capacity to enhance flash flood early warning systems performance and strengthen disaster risk reduction systems.

The goal of this session is to present the work the Pacific Community is doing to increase climate resilience and strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) systems in Pacific Island Countries through increased hydrological capacity and enhanced performance of flood early warning systems and support the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific, and the Sendai framework for DRR.   

The session will be delivered by Amini Loco of the Pacific Community.
