AWP Webinar: Planning for resilience to improve water security

Webinar banner

Date: 27 April 2021
Venue: Online

In the first webinar of this series, we explored how climate change impacts, features, and challenges affect water security globally with a focus on the Pacific. Our guest speakers reinforced that to progress towards water security, water needs to be treated as a cross sectoral theme that traverses everywhere and develops in coordination with all sectors.

Indeed, approaches to building water security and resilience over time must be integrated and consider national and regional priorities. Approaches also need to be inclusive of local people, communities, in particular women and marginalised people. This includes undertaking climate risk assessments and management plans for climate adaptation and emergency responses. Even when limited human, temporal, and financial resources make addressing development goals challenging.

In this webinar, you will hear about integrated and holistic solutions that are being used today, and three different perspectives on opportunities and their potential to meet diverse water needs.
