Locative Media Oceania explores the themes of water, climate change, deep time and cultural knowledge through creativity in a virtual education setting. The 2.5 week course is designed to engage participants from around the world to develop location based artworks in relation to the Oceania region. Lectures and a selection of workshops will be recorded and available to the public. LMO is a collaboration between Supercluster (Geert Vermiere and Fred Adam) and Treecreate (Tracey Benson), hosted and funded by the Centre for Applied Water Science, University of Canberra. A partnership with PhotoAccess and the Australian Water Partnership.
The program connects locative media and storytelling with people from around the globe, their places and ancestral knowledge. The focus is on the need to act for the restoration of ecosystems, living with climate change, climate induced forced migration and the loss of biodiversity. In this online creative and educational program, the themes of water, climate change, deep time and cultural knowledge will be explored through a series of lectures, workshops and team projects. 36 Participants from 5 continents will co-create locative media projects over the 2.5 week program.
