In this webinar, the University of Technology Sydney and the Australian Water Partnership will launch a new publication on ‘Water, Food, Gender Equality Synergies’.
The publication outlines actionable insights for fostering inclusivity within fisheries and water management sectors. It provides in-depth research of women’s role in fisheries, and explores the interconnections of water, food, and gender using case studies.
Delving into the intricate connections between water security, fisheries, and gender equality, the publication aims to unveil the impacts of these elements on communities, particularly those dependent on rivers and oceans. It provides a clearer pathway for practitioners and policy makers towards ensuring more sustainable and inclusive fisheries and water management sectors by outlining how gender equality can and should be considered in the project cycle.
This webinar will showcase a panel of experts to collectively explore the complex relations between water security, fisheries, and gender equality. Insightful discussions and knowledge exchange will show how to create a more inclusive approach to fisheries and water management sectors. While fisheries are the focus of the case studies, the findings and recommendations are applicable to water and agriculture projects more broadly.
Speakers include:
- Dr Victoria Syddall, Ocean Research Consulting and University of Auckland
- Melita Grant, Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney
- A speaker from Charles Sturt University
- Shreya Gyawali, AWP (Moderator)
The publication will be available to download from the Publications page on 19 September 2023.
