Lucía Gamarra

Senior Partnerships and Impact Officer

Lucía joined the AWP team in September 2020. She supports AWP’s knowledge, partnerships, events, communications and program areas, drawing on her experience in food, agriculture, water, and finance.

Previously, Lucía worked with the International WaterCentre in the delivery of integrated water management projects. She has also worked with SGS Peru to provide advice and guidance on business management systems, food safety, precision agriculture, environmental health, and training. Lucía’s experience in the water-food-energy nexus began as an internship in a pilot dairy plant which led to the establishment of her artisanal yogurt production company and later an agribusiness company in Peru.

Lucía co-organised the only youth side event of Ramsar COP18 in Dubai where she facilitated discussions around youth engagement in wetland conservation. More recently, she co-organised the Innovate 4 Water forum in Brisbane to enable connections between industry, solution providers, policymakers and investors from the water and water-dependent sectors to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Lucía holds a BSc in Food Science from the Peruvian National Agrarian University La Molina, a Master of Integrated Water Management from the University of Queensland and Griffith University, and a Graduate Diploma in Finance from Griffith University. She is passionate about exploring the interconnectedness and interdependencies between nature, technology, economy, governance and finance to distribute water in an equitable and sustainable manner.
