Matthew Dadswell

Matthew is passionate about sustainable natural resource management and protecting Australia’s unique and natural environment. He is currently Assistant Secretary of the Strategic Water Policy and Engagement Branch at the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water. In this role Matthew is responsible for leading Australia’s national and urban water policy reform and contributing to Australia’s international engagement on water issues, including the focal point for SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. Matthew is also responsible for cross-cutting water policy issues and engagement on the Murray-Darling Darling Basin Plan.
Matthew has been working on water policy since 2018. Prior to that he held senior roles in government, across the agricultural, natural resource management and environment sectors.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Forestry from The Australian National University and a Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture from the University of Canberra.
