Russell Merz

Russell Merz is a leading hydrotechnical engineer and business leader. Over the past 30+ years, he has undertaken and contributed to multi-disciplinary projects in five continents. His focus is on engineering risk assessment, water resources resiliency and water stewardship.

Russell has a broad perspective and understanding of global business and multi-cultural diversity from project work in over 35 countries, and from living and working in five countries. Russell has held positions in government, industry, and consulting. He has successfully contributed to establishing business operations in Australia, New Caledonia, and India, and progressing mergers and acquisitions in Asia. Past Board positions include organisations in Australia, Singapore, India, and New Caledonia, along with independent non-executive director and expert panel positions.

Russell holds a degree in Bio-resource Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Canada, and a master’s degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering (Soil and Water) from North Carolina State University, USA. He is a Fellow and Chartered Professional Engineer (Civil, Environmental and Leadership) with Engineers Australia, a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
