The AWP is pleased to announce today the membership of the inaugural AWP Expert Review Panel (ERP). A large number of partner nominations were received from highly experienced water professionals from all parts of the Australian water industry.
In the screening and assessment process AWP CEO, Prof Gary Jones, worked with the ERP Chair, Dr Colin Chartres, to establish a panel with significant international project experience as well as a suitable mix of gender, and public and private backgrounds. In doing so we considered the four water domains that are the important to AWP:
- River basin planning and management
- Urban water policy and management
- Irrigation modernisation and management, and
- Enabling methods and technologies for water reform.
As a result of the number of high calibre nominees and the need to have a broad range of expertise and experience, the final ERP has been expanded to 12 members plus the Chair. This will ensure the AWP can access the required expertise for the selection of Australian Partners for our activities in the future.
The members are, in alphabetical order:
Chair: Dr Colin Chartres
Dr Richard Davis
Dr Annette Davison
Mr Kevin Devlin
Prof Jane Doolan
Prof Karen Hussey
Mr Daniel Lambert
Prof John Langford
Mr Russell Merz
Mr Tom Mollenkopf
Mr John Riddiford
Mr Murray Smith
Dr Rob Vertessy
Prof Jones announced to AWP partners today, “We have much work ahead to achieve the objective of bringing together innovative and proven approaches to development cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. It is only with the support of our Australian Partners, and the advice of partner groups such as the Expert Review Panel, that the AWP will be successful. As such, I thank all the people who expressed interest in membership and encourage them, and their nominating Australian Partners, to continue to engage with the AWP – there remain many important international opportunities to do so into the future.”
