10th World Water Forum

The 10th World Water Forum is the largest international gathering in the water sector involving various stakeholders, which has been co-hosted by the World Water Council and a host city. The Forum brings together participants from all levels and areas, including politics, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society and the private sector, among others.

Over the week 18-24 May 2024, heads of state, heads of international organisations, high level government officials, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and economists from all over the world will share their knowledges, experiences, and practices regarding a wide range of topics related to water.

AWP at the World Water Forum

AWP is collaborating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW), and other Australian water partners, as a member of “Team Australia” at the 10th WWF.

In partnership with the Pacific Community (SPC) will be co-convening three sessions under the Asia-Pacific Regional Process, with a goal of raising awareness for increased and sustained investment in climate-resilient and inclusive water and WASH systems.

Session RP9 – Water security and Pacific SIDS

Tuesday 21 May | 16.40 – 18.10 | Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre 1, Mezzanine Floor, Kintamani 3

This session will provide a space for Pacific Island Country and Territory representatives to convey stories of Pacific resilience, including local water security solutions that harness traditional knowledge and governance systems. The session will highlight the importance of accelerated support to empower Pacific communities to establish, operate and maintain safe and resilient water and sanitation systems throughout all conditions.

Session RP10 – Strengthening engagement in water security to support Pacific resilience

Wednesday 22 May | 8.30-10.00 | Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre 1, Mezzanine Floor, Kintamani 6

The integration of water security approaches into the disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation efforts is a global challenge, and this session will explore Pacific case studies and experiences that will likely be relevant to other regions. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with water security actors and stakeholders from the Pacific and examine the potential of new and strengthened water security partnerships to support Pacific resilience.

Session RP11 – Climate-resilient sanitation in Pacific Small Island Developing States

Tuesday 21 May | 14.50 – 16.20 | Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre 1, Mezzanine Floor, Kintamani 3

This session will examine opportunities to place sanitation within the framework of climate change to better focus on what is needed to meet SDG6 targets under changing climatic conditions. Participants will connect with Pacific representatives and hear local stories of resilient sanitation solutions, drawing on examples of community governance, traditional knowledge, adaptation planning, appropriate infrastructure, and sustainable financing (including access to climate financing).

If available, recordings of these sessions will be provided after the event.
