The second session in AWP’s GEDSI and climate resilience webinar series looks at the practical reality of building equity into diagnostic tools and legislation.
The webinar, Integrating climate resilience and equity (GEDSI) into tools, strategies and water legislation, will be hosted by AWP’s GEDSI and Climate Adviser, Dr Robyn Mansfield, on Thursday 15 October, 12:00–13:00 AEDT.
It brings together two project teams who took different routes to the same problem.
Vanh Mixap and Tom Stewart from Alluvium will discuss their diagnostic assessment of national hydrological services across Pacific Island Countries and Territories, and how equity had to be built in at the technical design stage rather than added afterward.
Senoveva Mauli from the University of Wollongong and Melita Grant from the University of Technology Sydney will cover the revision of the SIWA Act and Catchment Areas Regulation, where the challenge was writing GEDSI and climate resilience into legislation itself.
Both projects had to answer the same question from opposite directions: how do you make sure a tool or a law stays inclusive once the project team has moved on?
There will be time for audience questions.
