Water Resilience in Indo-Pacific Data Development
The Indo-Pacific region is currently primed as the global epicentre for the second major wave of data centre expansion. However, this rapid digital industrialisation is colliding directly with severe physical and climatic limits – proximity to population centres, baseline water resources already under high pressure, intensive agriculture and escalating climate volatility are a few of the many complexities at play.
How can policymakers consider strategically investing water and energy resources to maximise economic benefits without compromising ecological boundaries and equitable, reliable services for local populations?
