Call for Proposals: Climate Change and Water Short Courses

Submission Deadline: Monday 30 August 2021, 5.00pm (AEST)

The Australian Water Partnership (AWP) is seeking an Australian Partner/s to design and deliver a training program on climate change and water. The courses will be delivered online as Australia Awards Short Courses to participants from the Pacific, South Asia and Southeast Asia regions.

Activity Background

Australia has significant expertise in climate change adaptation across natural and socio-economic systems, including in health, governance, disaster management, cities, rural development, and infrastructure. The proposed short courses on climate change and water will support the Australian Government’s objectives of showcasing Australia’s expertise and facilitating the transfer of technical skills in key sectors to development and trading partners. The training will also contribute to DFAT’s Climate Change Action Strategy 2020-25, helping Australia to meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement on climate change, and to promote the acceleration of progress towards meeting Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): ‘Ensure access to water and sanitation for all’.

Activity Description

The Climate Change and Water Short Courses will form part of a broader DFAT program on climate adaptation and mitigation training for Australia Awards participants, which already includes climate change adaptation and agriculture, and climate change and energy.

In recognition of the different climate and water challenges of regions within the Indo-Pacific, separate virtual short courses will need to be designed as follows: two courses for Pacific Islands and Territories (PICTs), and two courses for South/Southeast Asia. The Australian Partner/s selected will work with AWP and DFAT to design and deliver all four Australia Awards Short Courses on climate change and water.
