AWP is seeking partner/s to lead a technical visit to Australia for approximately 12 Senior Officials from Odisha, Karnataka and federal level agencies to look at the following elements of water management in Australia:
- Dam Asset Management
- Automated Reservoir Operations
- Emergency Action Planning
- Dam Safety related policy framework, including institutional aspects
The visit is in relation to the Dam Rehabilitation Improvement Project (DRIP). Phase II of the DRIP will be launched in 2019 with a funding of US$ 1.2 billion covering 800 dams across India.
The intended outcome of the visit is for officials involved in DRIP to better understand Australian experiences related to these topics.

Lessons Learned
In November 2018, AWP oversaw a delegation from the Indian Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) who undertook a series of field visits along the Murray-Darling Basin and received a range of presentations from Australian experts on basin planning. Two key lessons learned from this previous delegation could inform the design of the proposed DRIP delegation:
- Delegates preferred to commence the tour with field visits and leave other types of events to later
-
Two-way, interactive sessions were considered more educational compared to one-way presentation.
