DWS is a specialist water infrastructure engineering consultancy and an authorised Autodesk reseller — delivering expert consulting outcomes and industry-leading software for water professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
We combine deep hydraulic modelling expertise, strategic infrastructure planning and digital capability with the software tools that the best water engineers rely on — bringing both streams together under one roof.
DWS delivers integrated water planning across water, wastewater and stormwater networks — bringing together hydraulic modelling, growth forecasting and strategic analysis to support confident, evidence-based infrastructure decisions.
Before committing to major infrastructure investment, organisations need robust options analysis and concept-level design to test the feasibility, cost and risk of different approaches. DWS provides structured feasibility and concept design services grounded in engineering rigour and commercial awareness.
DWS supports utilities and infrastructure owners in making confident, evidence-based decisions to optimise performance, manage risk, and plan future investment across their asset portfolios.
Water utilities generate enormous volumes of data — from asset registers and SCADA systems to hydraulic models and maintenance records. The challenge is not the data itself, but connecting it in ways that support better decisions. DWS provides digital services grounded in engineering context, not just IT capability.
Seqwater Model Strategy
For Seqwater, DWS developed an enterprise-wide Model Strategy and Model Risk Management Framework covering model governance, lifecycle responsibilities, documentation, validation, independent review, version control and ongoing monitoring. The engagement also assessed emerging opportunities associated with digital twins, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, climate-adaptive modelling and real-time operational decision support. DWS subsequently delivered a water-balance assessment to determine minimum supply requirements from the critical Mt Crosby water treatment plants under voluntary, medium, high, severe
Roadmap to Live Water and Sewerage Hydraulic Models
For Unitywater, DWS contributed to a strategic roadmap for the adoption of live water and sewerage hydraulic models. This included assessing existing water and wastewater models, reviewing available digital solutions, analysing benefits and data requirements, engaging with operational and information-technology stakeholders, defining the preferred future state and developing an implementation roadmap. DWS has also prepared 30-year water network master plans for the Image Flat, Kenilworth and Landers Shute supply areas, incorporating demand forecasting, fire-flow analysis, growth servicing, supply resilience, infrastructure staging and capitalcost planning.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council – Water and Sewerage Model Conversions and Training
DWS combines technical delivery with knowledge transfer and institutional capability development. For Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, DWS converted the Council’s water and sewerage models to InfoWorks WS Pro and InfoWorks ICM, validated model performance, delivered face-to-face training and provided ongoing technical support to strengthen the Council’s internal modelling capability.
North Burnett Regional Council – Water and Sewer Network Modelling and Analysis
Our experience also includes regional and smaller community water systems. For North Burnett Regional Council, DWS developed and analysed seven water-distribution models and five sewerage models covering multiple regional townships. The work assessed existing service performance, firefighting capability, pump-station operation, sewerage capacity and growth scenarios over 10-, 20- and 30-year horizons, resulting in staged infrastructure and operational recommendations.
TasWater – Water Distribution Hydraulic Model Builds:
Digital Water Solutions supported WSP in delivering major water distribution model updates and network capacity assessments for TasWater as part of its statewide water master planning program. DWS completed detailed infrastructure updates and validation across ten hydraulic models spanning three Tasmanian regions, incorporating current GIS information, recent capital works, consumption data, demand forecasts and SCADA-based operational controls. The models were used to assess bulk water transfer capacity, trunk main performance, pump station operation and reservoir performance over a planning horizon of more than 50 years. DWS delivered updated and validated hydraulic models, model validation reports and network capacity assessments for each region, providing TasWater with a reliable evidence base for long-term infrastructure investment, operational planning and the development of water master plans for reticulation networks across Tasmania.
Livingstone Shire Council -Capricorn Coast Water Supply Master Plan
Digital Water Solutions was engaged by Livingstone Shire Council to prepare the Capricorn Coast Water Supply Master Plan in response to significant forecast population and development growth. With the region expected to grow by approximately 70 per cent by 2046 and potentially double in population by 2060, the project focused on ensuring that water infrastructure could be delivered in a reliable, compliant and financially sustainable manner. DWS assessed the performance of the existing water supply scheme against Council’s desired standards of service, developed future growth scenarios and identified the location, timing and scale of trunk water infrastructure required over a 30-year horizon. The work also included updating Council’s hydraulic model, assessing network risks, developing staged infrastructure solutions, estimating capital costs and considering implications for Council’s Local Government Infrastructure Plan and asset management practices. The resulting master plan provides Council with a structured capital program to support growth, maintain service levels and strengthen the long-term resilience of the Capricorn Coast water supply system.
