Projects

  • Goro Outfall Project, New Caledonia
Replacement of 3.6 km large diameter ocean outfall pipeline in waters up to 60m deep off the coast of New Caledonia. Pipe installation and connection works were high risk works conducted in an open sea/shipping lane environment from numerous types and sizes of vessels and marine plant. Specialist equipment such as a DP2 DSV (Dive Support Vessel), the Skandi Protector with a crew of 70 people and 19 saturation divers, was mobilised to undertake the connection between the new and old pipelines and attach 750 additional concrete anchors.
  • Nauru Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plants
Canstruct designed, supplied, constructed and commissioned three reverse osmosis units of 900 kilolitre, 800 kilolitre and 480 kilolitres/day capacity respectively. Canstruct took over the operation and maintenance of these units in 2017 when intensive remediation was carried out by our personnel. Following completion of the RO Plant remediation and modification, the combined maximum daily production increased from 1806m³/24hr to 2760 m³/24hr, a 52.8% increase in overall capacity. This production increase resulted from minor capital expense and reduced the energy cost of water production from 4.09kw/h per thousand litres to 3.36kw/h.
  • Nauru Waste Water Treatment Plants
As part of the Nauru Regional Processing Centre construction, Canstruct designed, manufactured and constructed three wastewater treatment plants in the sovereign nation of Nauru. Following commissioning of each plant, Canstruct have also been responsible for the operations and maintenance programs for all three facilities. The discharge from these plants is regularly tested and conform to Class C requirements. In addition, Canstruct have developed sludge treatment facilities which enabled all three wastewater treatment plants to be de-sludged as part of operational maintenance. These plants were all designed to cater for each respective site requirements of 3000 occupants.
  • Torres Strait Upgrade of Water Supply including two Desalination Plants
Upgrade works to water infrastructure was completed across four islands in the Torres Strait – Stephens Island, Dauan Island, Murray Island and Boigu Island. Each island had individual requirements for water harvesting, storage, treatment and reticulation including elevated reservoirs, trapezoidal lagoons, filtration plants, intake structures, desalination plants, pump houses and rising mains to distribute potable water to all island residents. The two modular desalination plants, complete with intake structures, were constructed on Boigu Island and Murray Island. Telemetry was installed across all facilities to monitor water storage levels, water treatment processes and any interruptions to supply.
  • Waste Water Treatment Plant, Golden Circle Cannery
At its main processing operation at Northgate, a northern suburb of Brisbane, Golden Circle required the installation of an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) wastewater treatment plant to break down the organic load from its fruit processing operations. Canstruct’s scope was to design, supply and install the wastewater treatment plant complete with electrical and mechanical systems. Works also included the extensive civil works for excavation and construction of a reinforced concrete tank – 60mL x 30mW x 6mH. Other components required included a gas flare, sludge handling facilities and inlet/effluent pipe connections.
  • This scope of works for the Fitzroy River Water consisted of the duplication of a 200mm water main across the Neville Hewitt Bridge in Rockhampton. The watermain was required to be suspended under the bridge using galvanised steel brackets and connected into existing water infrastructure at each end of the bridge. Elevated work platforms and barges were used to complete the pipe installation underneath the bridge. The total length of watermain installed was 1.5km which included the underground connections at the bridge approaches.
