I am an Australian Consultant with 40 years experience in natural resource and water management. Previously, I was Director General of the International Water Management Institute, Chief Science Avvisor to the National Water Commission and prior to this held senior management roles in the BRS, Geoscience Australia and CSIRO. I have held Directorships on several CRCs including eWater, Catchment management and Freshwater Ecology and worked internationally on water issues for Nestle and Unilever.

Projects

  • San Luis Groundwater Study
    I led a $5m investigation into the groundwater resources and irrigation potential of San Luis Province in Argentina on behalf of Geoscience Australia and built a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the outcomes
  • CGIAR Strategic Plan
    I was a member of a 5 person team that developed the 1st draft of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research Strategic Plan in 2011.
  • CGIAR Water Land and Ecosystems Program
    I led the development of a 14 institute international program developed for the CGIAR and funded to approximately US$30m per annum
  • National Water Commission Science Strategy
    I developed this strategy for the NWC to ensure that there was a sound evidence base for water reform in Australia
