The Department for Environment and Water is the South Australian Government’s lead policy and legislative organisation for the sustainable management of the State’s water resource. The Department has significant policy and scientific capability in the areas of cross-jurisdictional water management, water allocation planning, integrated urban water management, stormwater, water licencing and compliance, water trade, environmental water, Murray-Darling Basin, Great Artesian Basin, Lake Eyre Basin, water status reporting, asset management, managed aquifer recharge and river operations. The Department also has extensive linkages with water businesses and industry, the research sector and capacity building organisations.
