Projects

  • Rainwater Microtrading (South East Water, 2017)
Wave Consulting is assisting South East Water assess the feasibility of rainwater micro trading in apartment blocks in Fisherman’s Bend. This project includes water balance modelling using MUSIC, while considering both recycled water and rainwater as alternative water sources. Trading platforms based on blockchain technology were assessed.
  • Casey Fields IWM Options (City of Casey, 2018)
The project included a review of all water demands, the development of a future water supply demand model, consideration of bore water, recycled water, stormwater, rainwater and surface water runoff and associated water quality issues. The project developed three IWM options, and then completed a business case for these three options. Wave worked with Frontier Economics on this project.
  • Moreland Large Scale WSUD Prioritisation (City of Moreland, 2015)
Rob Catchlove was the project manager for a City of Moreland project in 2015 that reviewed 196 sites in City of Moreland, to identify the top 10 sites to deliver large scale WSUD projects. Sites included both stormwater harvesting schemes and stormwater quality assets. The project involved GIS analysis of all sites, water supply demand modelling, sensitivity modelling of the key factors resulting in priority sites, and extensive engagement activities with the Council team. Concept plans and infographics were produced for the top 10 sites. This project was funded through Melbourne Water’s Living Rivers program.
  • Kalkallo Master Plan (Melbourne Water, 2017)
Wave Consulting worked with a team of consultants to consider how to optimise the land use in this PSP and look at alternative development models to help Melbourne Water fulfil more ‘liveability’ outcomes. This explicitly meant we reviewed the flood modelling and resulting flood inundation shapes for the site and looked at each parcel of land around the retarding basin to determine how the site could harvest more stormwater and improve amenity. Ultimately this assisted Melbourne Water in reducing costs and increase the value of the urban development.
  • Recycled Water and Rainwater Guidelines (City of Manningham, 2017)
Wave Consulting developed a guideline providing an overview for industry professionals, including developers, consultants, plumbers and inspectors. The overview detailed practices for rainwater and recycled water supplies and how they are designed and integrated into medium to high density apartment/commercial developments. This project tackled a multifaceted problem for the water industry where there was a need to balance the use of various water sources for a variety of end uses.
  • Wave Consulting has recently completed a significant literature review and data analysis of Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals, for the Monash Sustainability Development Institute (led by Prof John Thwaites and Prof Rob Skinner).
