Australia is gearing up to engage in the upcoming UN 2023 Water Conference. To this end we’d like to alert AWP Partners that they may submit voluntary water-related commitments, pledges, and actions to the Water Action Agenda, which is a key outcome of the Conference.
The Agenda seeks to collect voluntary commitments, pledges, and actions, across all sectors and industries, uniting nations, stakeholders, and professionals on actions that help deliver the water-related goals in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Agenda is hoping to attract commitments that can be scaled-up and replicated in the years to come.
Commitments are being gathered in the lead-up to the UN 2023 Water Conference as well as during the Conference itself. Further commitments will be added after the Conference and up until the end of the Water Action Decade (2028) and the 2030 Agenda.
A key aim of the Agenda is to accelerate progress in the second half of the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and second half of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The emphasis is on accelerated implementation and improved impact towards achieving SDG 6 and other water-related goals and targets.
